Day 16: New Balance

On this third Friday, President Joe Biden flexed the potential of a Democratically-led Senate, House and White House. The $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan he campaigned on pushed through the former with a tie-breaking vote from Vice President Kamala Harris. She was the 51st vote.

Republicans, in true conservative fashion, had pitched a lower number ($618 billion) and offered not one “yea.”

Biden assures that our economy can endure the stress with built in measures for a time-release relief. The $15 minimum wage, for example, can be achieved in increments over the next five years, he said of potential changes needed for the bill to pass the House.

The $2,000 he promised will be delivered as a $1,400 check to “complete” the $600 stimulus check Americans received under the Trump Administration. There may even be added restrictions on who can receive the funds to ensure the most in-need are provided for without furthering the U.S. debt during a precarious competition with the Chinese economy.

Projections have the U.S. economy returning to pre-pandemic levels by the end of the year with the Gross Domestic Product measurements somewhat normalizing by summer.
